Bernd Schäfer

Bernd Schäfer studied history, theologz and political science at the University of Tübingen and received his Ph.D. at Martin Luther University Halle in 1998. He is a Senior Research Scholar with CWIHP at the Woodrow Wilson Center and works on a book about East Asian communism. Previously he was a Research Fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington D.C.. Some of his publications are: Ostpolitik and the World: European and Global Responses, 1969-1974 (forthcoming 2008), Historical Justice in International Perspective (forthcoming 2008), North Korean ‘Adventurism’ and China’s Long Shadow, 1966-1972 (2004); Staat und Katholische Kirche in der DDR (1998).
